Remembering God’s Grace
church’s history is a sign of God’s
A grace. Each one of its members are
an embodiment of God’s active work in
his creation. Rowland Heights Community
Christian Church has been a conduit of God’s
grace to me. As I reflect on the history of this
church, I cannot help but to reflect on the
ways this church has formed me spiritually.
Throughout the different stages of my life, God
has used his servants to instruct, to build-up,
and to encourage me in the faith. The leaders
have not hidden from the next generation the
praises of the LORD, his strength, and the
wonderful works he has done (Psa. 78:4). Now
in its 30th anniversary, RHCCC can see a new
generation of young adults who grew up in the
church and are serving the next generation.
My story is only one of such examples. It is a
testimony of God’s unlimited patience toward
sinners in need of grace.
My own walk with Christ began in this church.
I attended Sunday school, Friday fellowships,
and retreats frequently. This all gave me a

firm foundation to stand on before I went to
college. It was during my college years that I
had a strong desire to make this faith my own.
I wanted to see where Christianity and my life
intersected. As I pursued my own academic
career, God was slowly showing me that I need
his grace. I came to realize that no matter what
earthly pursuit I spent my energy and time on,
it won’t give me the happiness I longed for. It
is only after seeking his kingdom first, that all
other things will fall in its proper perspective.
All the things I learned in church came flooding
back when I realized how essential Jesus is in
my life. Jesus brought about this kingdom I
was looking for. Jesus opened up the way for
a sinner like me to be reconciled to God. I was
never created to navigate this world on my own.
Jesus came to seek and save the lost. It was
in college that I confessed that I was lost and
needed God’s direction in my life. I began to
ask God what he wants to do with my life.
It was at this time that I began to seriously
consider going into full time ministry. God had
started a work at such a critical stage in my life,
and the transformation that he began led me to
ask what his plans were for me after I graduated
college. After many conservations with mentors
and spiritual leaders in my life, I pleaded with
God to give me a clear direction. In Exodus
33:15-16 Moses prayed, “If your Presence does
not go with us, do not send us up from here.
How will anyone know that you are pleased
with me and with your people unless you go
